Logistic & Supply Chain

Background & Application

The scale of the global logistics market is constantly growing, but there are many problems in the traditional logistics model. For example: Relying on manual operations may result in untimely or missed goods being counted. At the same time, it takes a long time to enter and exit the warehouse, the flow of products is slow, and it is difficult to standardize the recording and arrangement of product data. Applying RFID technology to the supply chain system, combined with the use of related software systems such as Manufacturing Execution System, Warehouse Management System and Logistics Execution System, can solve these problems and meet the needs of the supply chain. It can realize the traceability of products from production, warehousing, transportation, distribution, to retail, and even return processing. It can not only greatly improve the automation of the entire supply chain, but also greatly reduce the error rate. Improving the level of intelligence has become an indispensable part of the development of modern logistics and supply chain.

1. Production Link

Each product is affixed with a RFID label with relevant data written on it, and RFID readers are fixed at several important links of the production line. When products with RFID labels pass through the fixed RFID reader in sequence, the reader will read the label information on the product and upload the data to the MES system, and then judge the completion status of products in production and the operation status of each work station.

2. Warehousing Link

Attach RFID stickers to the location of goods and pallets in the warehouse. The smart tags contain component specifications, serial numbers and other information.  When goods enter and leave the warehouse, the RFID readers located at the entrance and exit can read these labels. And record and process automatically. Warehouse managers can quickly grasp accurate information on inventory status through the WMS system.

3. Transportation Link

Attach RFID electronic labels to goods, and install RFID readers at bus stations, train stations, docks, airports, highway exits, etc. When the RFID reader reads the label information, it can send the location information of the goods to the cargo dispatch center in real time. If the cargo information (weight, volume, quantity) is found to be incorrect, the RFID reader can be driven to read the specified tag. If the goods cannot be found after a second search, an alarm message will be sent to the dispatch center to prevent the goods from being lost or stolen.

4. Distribution Link

When goods with RFID sticker tags are delivered to the distribution center, the RFID reader will read the tag information on all goods on the distribution pallet. The relevant software system compares tag information with shipping information, automatically detects mismatches, and prevents delivery errors. At the same time, the storage location and delivery status of the goods can be updated. Find out where your delivery is originating and going, as well as expected arrival time, and more.

1.5 Retail Link

When a product is affixed with an RFID sticker tag, not only can the validity period of the product be monitored through the relevant software system, but the RFID reader installed at the payment counter can also be used to automatically scan and bill the product, which greatly improves the efficiency of the product. It reduces labor costs and improves the level of intelligence.

Analysis of Product Selection

When selecting a product, we need to consider the permittivity of the object to be attached, as well as the impedance between the chip and the antenna. Most of the tags used in the general logistics industry are passive UHF sticker tags, which are affixed to cartons. In order to prevent the items being transported in the cartons from being damaged, logistics cartons generally will not be exposed to extreme temperatures or humidity for a long time in the environment. In the absence of special requirements, our logistics tag selection is:

1) The surface material is art paper or thermal paper, and the glue is water glue, which can meet the needs and control the cost.

2) The goods are generally larger and require more information to be printed on the surface, so large-size tags are selected. (Such as: 4×2”, 4×6”, etc.)

3) Logistics labels need to have a long reading range, so a large-size antenna with a large antenna gain is required. The storage space also needs to be large, so use chips with EPC memory between 96bits and 128bits, such as NXP U8, U9, Impinj M730, M750. The Alien H9 chip is also used, but due to its larger user area storage space of 688 bits and higher cost, there are fewer choices.

XGSun Related Products

The advantages of RFID passive UHF logistics labels provided by XGSun: Large labels, small rolls, follow ISO18000-6C protocol, label data reading rate can reach 40kbps ~ 640kbps. Based on RFID anti-collision technology, the number of labels that can be read simultaneously can theoretically reach about 1,000. It has fast reading and writing speed, high data security, and long reading range in the working frequency band (860 MHz -960 MHz), which can reach 10 meters. It has large data storage capacity, easy reading and writing, excellent environmental adaptability, low cost, high cost performance, long service life and wide application range. It also supports customization.
